Hage Creative bio picture
  • Hi there! My name is Corey Hage and I'm a wedding photographer from Seattle, Washington who specializes in visually storytelling weddings for the coolest brides and grooms!

This blogsite follows both my personal and professional life, features images from the weddings I shoot, the crazy things of life I see, tools & tips for fellow photographers and the friends & family members that mean so much to me.

Some of the simplest things in life that I love: My beautiful wife, Katey; My 2 amzing boys, Ezra & Josiah; Seahawks football; Thursday nights with The Office; and My morning 16oz. coffee.

Simple, right? That's me in a nutshell, SIMPLE! I would love to hear about you.

Run My Business Monday | V2

This weeks “RMBM” is focused on the shooting aspect. When out shooting I typically carry one camera and several lenses plus other tools I might need during the shoot. Every moment is so critical when shooting, I can’t be worrying about which lens to use or fiddling with trying to get it out of a pod or pouch, I will miss that moment. I’m a very selective shooter when it comes to which lenses I use (another post for RMBM) and so I only carry 3-4 on me. When I first started out, because I was always shooting by myself, I researched so many different bags that would ASSIST me. If you are in the industry you know there are so many options it is hard to choose, but when I was introduced to the BODA Bag from www.goboda.com it was a no brainer. Not only does it carry my gear and give my super fast access to any lens, it also protects it from the elements of Seattle weather. This bag is an assistant in itself.

This past year GOBODA, headed by wedding photographer Jim Garner, created a product that in my opinion every photography MUST have, the BODA V3!

This bag is not only for photographers but videographers out there, get your hands on this. Even if you aren’t a professional and you want a bag to carry on hikes, or travel the world with, BODA V3 is your bag.

The freedom that I have when I shoot because of the BODA bag can’t be replaced by any other bag.

Corey

PS: For my clients, this makes sure that I never turn my back on you during our shoots!

Amy + Ryan | Portland Wedding

Another beautiful wedding from last year. Amy & Ryan got married down in Portland, OR. It was absolutely a beautiful all around. This wedding was special to me cause Amy is my wife’s cousin, so to take part in their day as the photographer was an honor. It was one of these rare occasions where family actually gets to see what I do and not just the results. Fun times!

Run My Business Monday v1

Alright in my attempt to be more of a blogger outside of photos and my life I am going to try out what I call “Run My Business Monday”. These will be short or long posts about companies, tip and tricks, equipment that help me run my business. I hope this helps those out there starting out and those that just need the tips. For all you Brides out there that read these, rest assured that they are what help me take care of you 120%:)

For the first “RMBM” I want to introduce you to my web hosting company, Bluehost.com! They are a very very important part of my company. Without their dedication to making sure my site is up and running 24/7 I wouldn’t have a presence online. I have nothing but great things to say about them. For a hosting company dedicated to there customers is so important in this day & age. Plus a wonderful perk about them is they don’t cost you an arm & leg to host. If you are looking to find a place to host a website or a blogsite like mind, go with Bluehost.com. You won’t regret it.

So the first RMBM goes to the hosting company that keeps working for me when I’m not always work:)

Corey

PS: I’m going to try to include videos in these. I’m in the process of learning that right now.

Here Often…

What does this image say to you?

I find myself here a lot with all that is going on around me. I captured this image for a project my wife is working on. It speaks to me on so many levels.

Meredith & Jeremy: e-session

The other weekend I had a chance to finally hangout with Jer & Meredith again. Initial meetings are fun but nothing like when we hangout for the e-session. This was particularly fun for me because it was the first e-session of the year. After the winter season of reflecting on last year and planning for a this year; it’s a joy to start implementing! It’s going to be a great year for sure. Jer & Meredith definitely gave this year a great kickoff. Good times at Seattle Center and EMP!

See you guys on your big day!

Corey

PS: No one can say that the winter months round here don’t see the sun. This city is full of color!

A letter to Haiti

I find myself heartbroken, feeling helpless for Haiti. If it was in my power I would pack a bag right now and get down there any way I could. But that’s not realistic for me. My wife wrote a beautiful letter on her blog that sums up how my heart feels right now too….

Dear Haiti,

I do not know you well.  I don’t know much of your story.  I’ve never had the chance to visit you and see your beautiful home.  I hear it’s wonderful.  I hear your story is one of heartbreak and struggle to persevere and unity with your family.  I hate that this tragedy has struck you.  I hate that I sit on a soft couch in a warm building, drinking coffee, knowing that as helpful as my money may be, nothing I send you can take away your pain.  I want to take you home with me.  I want to clothe you and feed you, and sing songs to you like I do my own children.  Haiti, I am sorry that the world has ignored your needs for so long.  As awful as this sounds, maybe the beauty from the ashes is that this time, your needs won’t go unnoticed.  Maybe this is the season for the world to step up and face their fear of failure, give away their need for power and control, sacrifice more than seems possible, and open their arms to strangers without calculating the costs first.  Maybe this is the season that the heart will lead and it will not be a hardened heart, but a broken heart, a remorseful heart.  A reconciling heart.

Haiti you have a very amazing creator.  He thinks your special.  He has given you both your inner beauty and outer beauty.  He has given you inner strength, when your outer strength crumbles.  If you don’t know him, you should meet him.  He’ll walk with you through this storm closer than anyone else.

Haiti.  I am sorry.  I wish I could do more.  Someday I will come meet you and I hope we will be good friends.

I support an organization called One Day’s Wages. Each year I commit to donating a % of earnings to them. With the recent events they have already setup an Emergency Haiti Relief Fund where you can go and donate to help relief efforts. If all we can do right now is help fund the efforts that more then just sitting still. If you haven’t already and can, give. If you can’t then keep yourself informed of what is happening over there on a day to day basis. We all have a voice and can all make a difference in our own way.

Maybe as a photography community we could all pick a date this year and donate all proceeds to help. Who’s in for a“Your Wedding for Haiti” program?
